I saw something that I shouldn’t and it left me shocked and almost traumatized. Instead of letting the incident bother me I decided to paint my interpretation of what I saw. I began by applying thick layers of gesso which I then painted black and put thick layers of shiny lacquer. The idea is the left side of the painting is me looking through and accidentally seeing an event that was meant to be private. The side of the painting is the incident itself interpreted in oil paint using bright thick contrasting colors to render the idea that the event was disturbing to witness.
