After receiving a vase and flowers as a gift, I decided to immortalize them both by painting them. First a dark purple background was applied with a green base for the vase to sit on. The Vase and flowers were completely done apply oil paint of different colors while it was still wet allowing the colors to mix directly on the canvas. The color black was never used, not even to create depth or shadows. Once the painting was dry, the background was changed to a lighter lilac color inorder to give the painting more light and airness.
